Holiday Makeup

May 16, 2016

By the time you read this, I shall be in sunny Brisbane, having spent the weekend in Melbourne.

YAY HOLIDAYS!

Now, last week I was griping about what to pack for such different climates. Thankfully, the beauty case is a lot easier because eyeshadow doesn't care how warm or cold it is outside. I'll talk more about toiletries and hair products next week but I thought I'd focus on the face today.

When I think about packing cosmetics and beauty items, I always try to go for things that seal tight and have proper, working lids. I even ziplock liquid items so if they don't cope with the air pressure on a plane, then the carnage is contained. If you've ever had a bottle of shampoo AND a tin of baby formula come open in your suitcase, then I'm sure you feel me.

Here's what I've packed for my face on holidays.

Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette palette - this is an absolute workhorse with every shade useable and capable of creating lots of different looks. I'm not bothering to bring an eyeliner because a wet liner brush and the darker shades do just as good a job.

Silk Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Defining Mascara - this has been my go-to for lashes since I won it in a Champagne Cartel prize pack.

Maybelline Dream Wonder foundation - again, it's my go-to and I'm wondering whether or not to take my Vani-T mineral powder as well for days when I just want a lighter coverage.

Almay Intense i-colour Everyday Neutrals - I use the middle colour to fill in my brows.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light - I adore this finishing powder. It feels amazing swooshed on and brightens my overall face.

Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Blush in Sweet - This is a great everyday colour that can be built upon as required. (I may also add my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure)

Maybelline Color Drama lip pencils in Nude Perfection and Red Essential - the perfect nude and the perfect red in easy to transport pencil format.

Colourpop Ultra Matte in Clueless - this is my absolute fave dusty mauve in gorgeous matte finish. I wish these were more available in Australia!

MAC Cosmetics lipstick in "Heaux" - I'm not sure this shade is still available, but it's a really nice wearable shade.

I should be able to work a few decent looks out of this lot; I don't anticipate wearing full faces for many of the days so I think I'll survive. Obviously requisite brushes will also come with.

Do you minimise or maximise the beauty case when you're travelling? Any travel makeup horror stories? Like me leaving a brand new cosmetics bag full of product after an Ulta haul in the States in my hotel room in Hawaii? #neverforget
