Sephora Black Friday Purchases

December 07, 2015

I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Black Friday for all manner of online Christmas shopping (including for myself) so jumped on Sephora's 20% off for members sale the minute it was available to secure my needs.

An hour later, my application for Sephora's affiliate program was approved. Gah. However, this means Almost Posh is now your gateway to said beauty store and you will see affiliate links pop up from time to time. If you sign up to the Beauty Card, you get $10 off your first order and shipping is free over $55.

On with the products . . .

hit pan Clinique | Almost Posh

I had hit a severe amount of pan on my Clinique Almost Powder, and not only does that shiz never go on sale but is now even more expensive to buy via Strawberrynet ($53) than it is in-store here in Australia ($50) so I decided they can do one it was time to try something else, and for 20% off, why wouldn't you.

First was the Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder^ (normally $52).

Then, because I loathe paying full price for shipping and had received a refund from Mecca which was essentially cash that had already been budgeted for cosmetics, I took a bit of a treat yoself approach and selected a Matte Crème Lip Crayon from Bite Beauty^ (normally $30) in "Glacé", a dusty mauve.

As I mentioned in this post, originally I wanted to try the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain^ in "Marvellous Mauve" but it's been out of stock forever. Annoying.

So when they finally arrived . . .

I was a bit concerned when I put the Tarte powder and my old Clinique side by side:

Powder comparison | Almost Posh

I was advised not to panic and see how it oxidised on the skin. It didn't seem to be too bad colourwise, but didn't give the same amount of coverage as the Clinique on its own. It also feels less silky which was surprising. Then I realised I bought finishing powder AS THE NAME SUGGESTS not actual foundation. Moron.

The lip crayon was a lot browner than I anticipated and at first glance seemed a lot like KVD's Lolita which I already have. I was hoping for more of a matte dusty mauve as promised.

Here I am in natural and very hot sunlight and later in the office wearing both.

So yeah, I don't look like Pennywise, so that's a good thing.

In summary, I'm not really sure how to feel about this order. I think the powder will be okay but I'm a bit disappointed in the colour of the lip crayon. Although it's just brown enough to be different from Lolita, it wasn't what I was aiming for and at (whatever 20% off $30 is) I wanted to be thrilled with a rad new shade.

In exciting news, the full Kat Von D range^ has just gone online!! YASSSSSS!!!!

The pursuit of cute continues.
