What I Wore: Double-Duty Dress & New Hair

February 22, 2016

Got my hair did last week which was quite nice.

I'd been cultivating a low-maintenance ombre look for some time to save on costs and hairdresser visits but the time had come for a bit of a freshen up and a good cut to rid myself of damaged ends. I was wearing it up almost every day and just over it, to be honest.

Here's my messy head beforehand.

I'd been pinning pastel pink/rose quartz hair looks on Pinterest for a while and I thought I might as well get on the trend in a subtle way. My hairdresser Mikala suggested we go about this by foiling my existing head and toning with a rose gold shampoo, specifically the DeLorenzo Novafusion shampoo in Rosewood for just a hint of gentle colour.

And here I am after, feeling quite pleased with myself.

As for the "What I Wore" bit (the next day), this is one of my favourite dresses from ASOS, black boatneck with half sleeves and a nice skirt in a heavy jersey. I wanted to wear my new necklace from Millers and this was the perfect backdrop for it. Except none of my belts seemed to go with the necklace and it has proper belt loops so it couldn't go unbelted. Then I hit upon the idea of putting a skirt over the top. This polka dot number is Khoko from Harris Scarfe and positively ancient, albeit rarely worn. The skirt has a waistband so looked finished without a belt and the volume of the dress underneath gave it a little extra boof. Bonus.

I chucked on my hard-won Nine West sparkly flats and together, it all seemed to work. Millers even regrammed my Insta pic!

Just to get myself over the line for the Monday Makeup Madness link party, on the rest of my face I'm wearing Maybelline Dream Wonder foundation, Tarte Poppy Picnic palette on eyes and cheeks, (don't know why I'm looking so unblended in this photo) Maybelline Lash Sensation mascara, a swoosh of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light and MAC "Snob" on the lips which, as I said on Insta, made me feel a little Wendy James from Transvision Vamp and I'm fine with that.

Got your hair did lately?
