Throwback Thursday: Floral Skirt

September 25, 2014

I genuinely love the concept of #ThrowbackThursday (or #TBT if you can't be bothered auto-correcting that much.)

It's unclear from the article where it started or who started it but it's totally a thing. Following random famous people on Twitter as well as friends and family has turned up a trove of hitherto-unseen snaps so I thought I'd get in on the act with this one from my 90s folder.

So burgundy. Much floral. Wow.

Let's take a moment to dissect this outfit . . .

1. Black knee-high lace-up boots and undoubtedly black tights underneath
2. Long floral button-through skirt from Postie Fashions which I begged my Mum for and, as I recall, was super expensive
3. Baggy black t-shirt
4. Burgundy corduroy jacket from Harris Scarfe
5. Black beret
6. Black cosmetic bag I used as a handbag because I was so alternative
7. Brassy tones of the home hair dye job

You can also see in the baggage trolley a floral Just Jeans backpack which I only recently threw out and a teal Sportsgirl canvas logo tote, which I still have!

This was taken on 21 July, 1997 at the old Adelaide Airport as I prepared to fly to Port Hedland where I was going to live.

Have you ever been to Port Hedland?

Yeah. Neither had I.

Suffice to say, I was not dressed appropriately to survive the conditions although I managed a year and a half. More on that later.
