#StyleCost2017: March

March 31, 2017

As always, the year is scooting by at the rate of knots and here we are in mid-Autumn already, not that you'd know it because Adelaide has still been pumping out days in the mid-30s. However, Daylight Savings ends this weekend (BOOOOOO) and you know that means proper cold weather is on the way.

This month I've taken it relatively easy in terms of quantity but have started working on my A/W 17 collection, picking up a few key pieces I had identified as gaps in the old 'drobe.

The first item was gifted to me by the lovely Ali, designer at Philosophy Australia. It's super pretty so I'm waiting for a suitable occasion to wear it and be photographed thusly so can somebody please invite me to like a high tea or wedding or something. Caitlin (of Twist of Cait fame) and I met with Ali when she was in Adelaide recently to suss out the new collection, eat cheese, drink wine and generally chit chat! This is Caitlin's photo. Mine had Ali blinking.

Next up was an opportune trip to Savers where I nabbed this BNWT Emerson shirt dress (Big W for those of you not familiar with in-house branding) for $6.79 after applying my 15% Savers discount. As you can see, I'm on a rooftop which is great but note the pained expression on my face. Just as I was setting up for this shot, a nearby air conditioning extraction unit started screeching with a legitimately deafening noise that scared the life out of me and made carefree posing impossible.

I had identified new jeans as a must for the coming season, so when Jeanswest dropped a 30% off sale, I sat up and took notice. I'd been hearing a lot about the new Freeform 360 Curve Embracer jeans so I went ahead and tried on a few pairs of the 7/8 styles and ended up getting them in both Royal Ink and Black. 7/8 length is usually perfectly full length on me but would you believe these are still too long?! Who on earth has legs that long?? $90 is a fair spend for me on an item, especially x 2 but decent jeans are one thing that are definitely worth investing in. Size tip for these jeans; go down. These are a 10 and I'm generally a 12.

Another thing I wanted for the coming cooler months were work-suitable colour block tops with sleeves in flattering fabrics and Katies* delivered not only on product but price, with a $20 off full-price items sale. I have short arms so tend to favour 3/4 or elbow-sleeved tops and I'm happy to see plenty of them around this season!

I got this elbow bell-sleeve top in Sangria* for essentially $9.95 after using the voucher . . .

and this 3/4 sleeve Nero collar top in Vintage Rose*.

Katies nero collar top | Almost Posh

Both tops also come in other colours so I may well go back and avail myself of more, especially as I earned a $5 reward voucher with this transaction! Seriously, if you'd told me five years ago how much Katies stuff would be in my wardrobe, I'd have laughed and laughed. #neversaynever2017, am I right?

Totals for the month:

Total RRP ticket "value" - $445.90
Total paid - $237.29
YTD spend - $531.05

Are you tracking your spend this year? How is it all going?
