Almost Posh Style Cost: June

July 01, 2016

Well, here's a turn-up for the Style Cost Project.

After last month's transition to monthly pay (aka grim death on a part-time wage), holiday spending and then finding myself significantly short of funds well before the next pay day rolled around, I gently tapped the brakes of my clothing expenditure and without too much effort, have found myself at the end of what turned out to be Almost No Buy June. Considering how hard I found No Buy July last year, it was interesting to see how easy it was when I wasn't thinking so much about not shopping.

Not through lack of trying, mind you. There were (and still are) loads of sales, I didn't restrict myself, I went into plenty of shops, tried things on and browsed online. I spent one morning visiting four different op shops. However, nothing really sang to me and abiding by my "love it or leave it" policy of recent times, I ended up with one sole item bought with stored credit at The Iconic that arrived on the last day of the month:

Actually, I did also have a crepe dress* in the same order but it's going back.

If I'm strictly honest, I also bought three bras on sale from Triumph online after I tried on a bra in a department store "sale" then googled and realised that for the so-called special price of $41 for one bra, I could get three of similar style from the same brand for $58. So that was an easy decision to make. No I didn't bother about price matching, I find that kind of thing always makes me feel like a chump when the sales assistant says "it's not for online sales" or similar. So there we are.

I also bought a 6 pack of stocko briefs from Target (which, like their bras have also declined significantly in quality, I have to say) but I'm not counting underwear, socks or hosiery in my project so although it was purchased, it doesn't contribute to the total tally. Which is why the fleece tights and leggings I got from Coles in the grocery shop last week also don't count. They are really awesome though.

Meanwhile, I acquired a few jazzy new items in the accessories department.

Firstly, Mimco sent me a $20 "hey, haven't seen you for a while, come and spend some money" voucher and then backed it up a few days later with "complete our survey and we'll give you a $30 reward". Well, I love nothing better than free money, so I got to bop on down to Mimco one lunch time and walk out with these rose gold Go To Stud earrings, gratis.

Then, as you may have seen last week, I was kindly gifted the 10 Way Necklace from Maria Nicola Jewellery which was another welcome add to my accessories range. (I'm only counting it as 1 item though, when in reality it is more than 10!)

Then Stacie gave me the remainder of her Nine West voucher that still had $20-odd on it that needed to be used this week and informed me Nine West were having a mad sale with 25% off already reduced items. Well, it would have been rude not to spend it, right? So I popped on down and got this Jaya Cross Body Bag for $15.45. Working near Rundle Mall is quite awesome most of the time, I can tell you.
